It is unique, in that, while it is a level waterfront with private beach it sits back from Birch Bay Drive 100 ft. The front outdoor patio functions as an outdoor living room with adjacent firepit. The view of the bay is west facing. This has been our personal summer home all these years. Feel free to inquire with your questions

Birch Bay Getaway
Fun, funky and in a great location! Plenty of great outdoor space to hangout, play games or just watch an amazing sunset! Close to open space, state park and beach fun.

Eclectic Beach House
The home is a very eclectic blend of styles, furniture, and construction with what seemed like multiple additions to the original house. We would have loved to see more upkeep on the house itself. Overall, it met our needs and we were really happy to get some time together as a family in beautiful Birch Bay! We mainly came for the time on the beach and tide flats which was just across the road that runs in front of the property. Some things we enjoyed about this particular property: -Checking in and out was a straight forward experience -Multiple seating areas both inside and outside to relax and hang out -Multiple BBQs -It's across the street from the beach -The house has adequate space both inside and out for a family to gather and have a good time! -Ron is a great host and was available to help with any questions that arose. -Birch Bay is absolutely beautiful in the summer! A couple of things we were disappointed on: -The small camping trailer in the backyard is quite run down with sagging roof, not leveled properly, and shouldn't be counted in the number of "beds" that this house sleeps. -The layout of the house was really weird including a random shower in the bedroom (!) while the rest of the bathroom was on the other side of the wall. -In another part of the house the walls did not run floor to ceiling, including the bedroom and bathroom that was attached to a small second living room and kitchen, making for a little less privacy. -The main bathroom shower leaks and you can see damage to the drywall above the shower. -There is a leak in the roof that left an area in the dry wall above the stairs with a small hole and water damage. -The garbage compactor did not work Overall, we really did enjoy our stay and we were quite happy to have a place large enough to meet the needs of our family in such close proximity to the beach! Come and stay in the summer and enjoy beautiful Birch Bay! Thank you, Ron!

Good water views but lacked cleanliness
while property had good water views it greatly lacked cleanliness. A dirty cleaning rag and windex was left on one of the beds. Refrigerator was with left over stuff with food stains and overall place needs through cleaning. With Covid-19 we felt very uncomfortable and vacated property within 2 hrs of check-in. Owner did not even respond to our email with the issues we raised. Totally disappointing experience.

Lovely plums on the tree. Good home for families with small children. Room inside and out. The fire pit was great along with other amenities.

About the host

Hosted by Ron Walken

Host profile image
We reside 100 miles from this home and have offered it for vacation rental for the past 20 years. Our family connection with Birch Bay trails back to its first settlers. I am still trying to walk all the way around the bay staying only on the beach logs.

Offering a home that accommodates this many people and living 100 miles away during yur stay has been a disaster in the past a few times, hence our need to read your prior hosts reviews. it's just to much risk. Please gather the contact information to provide me.

Why they chose this property

Birch Bay offers the warmest shallowest sheltered salt water bay on Puget Sound. Try bathing in the salt water using salt water soap. It is a hoot.

What makes this property unique

beautiful evening sunsets across the bay and beach fires.
