About this property

Lake House Retreat - in the Beautiful NC Mountains

An intimate, mountain, lake house ideal for couples or personal retreat. Floor to ceiling windows showcase nature’s beauty all year with complete privacy. Prepare Thanksgiving dinner in a fully provisioned kitchen or slip out for a romantic, gourmet meal at Eeseola Lodge. Step outside into beautiful hiking trails, an 18 hole golf course or trout fishing. Short drive to ski resorts, the AT, or for a spa treatment and amazing massage. You will return home renewed from a place of deep peace.

Space
A Sabbath Invitation… Our lovely, little lake house in the mountains of North Carolina has a beauty and stillness that fills you with peace. A family spent Thanksgiving trout fishing in the nearby river, a couple celebrated their anniversary with massages at Eeseoloa lodge, and a pastor settled into stillness for a weeklong silent retreat. We hope this will continue to happen. What occurs in a space matters. You can feel it when a space has been prayed in for years and years. That’s why chapels, cathedrals and sanctuaries feel so sacred to us. We want others to join us in praying, playing, resting, loving – Sabbathing – in this space. So, please consider our invitation… Will you join us in filling this little, beautiful lake house with loving energy? The mountains are covered in blooming rhododendrons in June. The air is cool and dry in the summer. The lake has a small beach for swimming and a beautiful golf course. Will you take some time here to reconnect with your partner? Spend a week in silent retreat? Use it as a home base to visit NC waterfalls, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville or the Appalachian Trail? Fish for trout in the nearby river? Plan a girlfriends getaway? Golf? We believe the time you spend here will deeply bless you. If you choose to accept this Sabbath invitation here are some details…
-Full bath with towels
-Full stocked alley kitchen (pots, coffee maker, dishes, etc) including dishwasher, microwave, and washer/dryer.
-Large deck with grill, two deck chairs and loveseat.
-Queen sized bed with linens -Sleep sofa (queen) with linens (living room can be made into a private space with curtains)
-Dining table for four
-Wifi (no TV)
-Small gas fireplace
-Lake and river walking paths
-Fishing
-5 min from Eseeola Lodge (amazing restaurant, spa and best massage I’ve ever had)
-Part of a resort community that offers a wide variety of activities and a golf course.
-15 min drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway
-1.5 hour drive to Asheville
-Good for couples, or 2-3 friends or small family Every visitor blesses us. Your presence enriches this house with loving energy. And, if you have time after your visit, send a little email note telling us what you discovered, loved, etc. It will help us tell others what to look for when they visit.

Love The Lake House!
The Lake house is our relaxation retreat. I even love being there on rainy days! We have been going for 3 years and we will be booking 2 weeks for next summer. Pam and Tom

The View!
Although we chose the worst week to visit (tropical storm Fred - wind, rain, flooding), we enjoyed our stay at the Lake House Retreat in Linville Land Harbor. The house was spotless and well stocked. The view from this property is amazing due to the floor to ceiling windows in living area. (Parents of little ones: please make sure these remain locked at all times!) The property also has a terraced sitting area and a wonderful rooftop deck complete with outdoor furniture. We especially appreciated the lighted and covered parking space which protected our vehicle during the storm. We would love to stay here again - minus "Fred", of course.

The Rev. Mary Laymon
Mary has been pastoring for 20 years.. Her passion is helping people of all ages hear the voice of the holy within them so that they may experience the healing power of Love.

Mary leads retreats and pilgrimages, offers Spiritual Direction and helps execute the vision for their non-profit Farm in Cincinnati, Tikkun Farm. If you’re looking for a farm getaway, complete with farm breakfast, alpaca petting and chickens, check out our Air BnB in Cincinnati!

Mary’s favorite sacred places include the island of Iona off the coast of Scotland, the Celtic monastic ruin, Skellig Michael on an island off the coast of Ireland, and Assateague, the barrier island off the coast of Maryland where she’s been camping with her family every summer since she was five years old.

She married Greg York 5 years ago in Ireland and is the mother of 18 year old John – musician, writer and college freshman. Mary enjoys gardening, cooking, traveling, camping and hiking out in God’s “Big Book” – the Celtic way of speaking about creation. But she really loves helping others hear the quiet and persistent voice of God speaking love to us.

Greg York
After a 25 year career at Procter & Gamble, Greg retired from corporate life and began creating another kind of life – centered around restoration and repurposing. Greg repurposes his skills as a manager and strategic planner mentoring young entrepreneurs and supporting the growth of Center City Collision’s “body shop Abbey” a place where cars as well as auto body workers experience healing & restoration. Through his capacity to see beauty where others see ruin he creates spaces for community living in the homes he’s wonderfully restored. Rather than invest in stocks, he invests in neighborhoods, restoring a “third place” cafe in an impoverished community where urban farmers make a living from their garden feeding their neighbors. Greg restored this little lake house and it reflects his craftsmanship for creating beauty.

Why they chose this property

We love coming to the mountains to enjoy the cool summers and the amazingly beautiful winters.
