Sweet knotty pine cabin by Rim Road

  • 5 of 5

This place was amazing! The property manager, Lisa, told us that the place was historic - cabin was built at Hawley Lake on the Apache Reservation with a hundred year lease. When the lease expired, owners had the choice of moving their cabins somewhere else or leaving them for the Apache Trive. This cabin came from Hawley Lake and you can almost imagine when you open the front door that the lake is right there. So cool. The interior is gorgeous knotty pine with brand new furniture in the family room. It was perforct for the 8 of us . We beyond loved hanging out on the big front deck watching our kids and pups play away from the heat. The entire huge yard was completely fenced with a doggie door so it was nice to not have to worry about the pups going in and out on their own. Show Low Lake was within minutes of this cabin so we got in a little fishing. Wish we had time to go the other direction so we could have hit Rainbow Lake, Woodland and Scotts Reservoir in about ten minutes but we ran out of time. One of the best things was the fact that Rim Road was about one minute from the front yard. We grabbed a water bottle, took the kids and dogs and hiked to Rim Overlook - seriously - right from this front yard. we hope to return in July and this will be our first choice!

Centrally located, quiet and pet friendly

  • 4 of 5

The house had everything we needed for a short visit. The fenced yard was great for our dogs, who mostly enjoyed the beautiful outdoors. The house is centrally located to Pine Top and Show Low. This house is located in a neighborhood and has other homes on each side and in the back, however, it was very quiet. There was firewood but no outdoor fire pit could be located - we purchased an inexpensive one and left it behind for the next guests. FYI if you are traveling with smaller children the loft and stair rails are not "small kid" friendly.

Cozy little retreat, but minutes away from necessities!

  • 4 of 5

Loved the opportunity to stay here for the weekend. The cabin was charming and had a lot of amenities included, making it easier on us. The home was nestled back in a neighborhood surrounded by trees but luckily it was up the street from a Walmart which came in very handy! The dogs loved being able to run around the grounds and I felt better knowing they were fenced in. The only thing I would say is I wish the space under the house was a little blocked off, my dogs were very interested to go under there and it made me nervous with what bugs or critters could be under there but luckily I had zero issue! The house could use a little updating and TLC but overall it just added to the “rustic” feel. We were a quick drive from a nice hiking trail, which was convenient. I would certainly recommend this stay if you’re looking for a small friend or family gathering in the woods but not totally roughing it...it’s nice to have access to plumbing, beds, and a superstore and being able to bring my pups was great!!
