All I can say is what a great beach wedding and honeymoon. Suzann was wonderful designing my no stress wedding and flowers, to sharing info on places to see, restaurants, hikes, snorkeling spots, biking down a volcano, etc. The wedding was soooo beautiful coordinated by Suzann on Makena Beach, enjoying all the photos. The cottage is decorated so nicely and really comfortable and clean, we loved coming home at the end of the day. See you next year for our one year anniversary. I'm missing all the birds in the early morning. Can you send some this way to cold Canada.
We had a wonderful time at this cottage. It was the perfect home base for our family vacation. There were so many bonus little extras that helped create the perfect atmosphere for a vacation rental.
Not having to bring beach towels, or a cooler for day outings meant extra room for souvenirs (The Sugar Museum has some tasty syrups that are perfect for filling in the extra suitcase space!).
Property lists amenities that are non-existent: CD player, DVD player, VCR, stereo - TV in master bedroom.
Exaggerates other features: cannot see ocean from living room seating, limited view from lanai seating, AC in master bedroom only, internet (when owner is not using all the band width down to 13 mps).
Sub-standard features: chipped plates and cups, worn mattresses and bedspreads, mold/mildew in shower, main carpet is worn, stained and faded, refrigerator blocks opening the dishwasher door beyond halfway.
While I do not hold owner responsible for the next-door neighbor grinding welds on his trailer on three days of our stay, nor for the construction noise three doors down every weekday - the owner is responsible for her barking dogs every morning before 7AM, the intrusion of space by solar installers for 2 full days, followed by 4 people on the roof cleaning solar panels and the inspector the 2 following days.
A personal note: provide a coffee grinder and filters for guests. The islands are famous for their coffee, respond to texts/emails the same day.
A private home with owner next door, but she did not come over while we were there. Construction was ongoing at that next door property, and there had been no mention of such in any emails or otherwise.
Cleanliness and amenities were fair to average. Liked the idea of being in a house rather than a condo, a mostly peaceful setting over a busy tourist area.
Beaches nearby are Ulua and Mokapu, good for snorkeling, but be there early rather than late. Winds pick up by noontime if not before, can be blowing lots of sand, plus stirring the waters. We didn't do a lot of meals out, but enough to pick a favorite. For us it was in Kihei at Coconuts Fish Cafe...limited selection perhaps, but tastiest and most reasonable prices, genuine folks running it. More upscale favorite was Three's Bar & Grill. In Wailuku, we loved the Thai place...tropical outdoor/indoor setting, great food...Saeng's Thai Cuisine. Another upscale favorite was chosen for the after wedding meal...Star Noodle in Lahaina...can't be beat! I love breakfast out, but only got to do it once at Ami Ami Bar & Grill in Kihei ...very good. Two weeks went by quickly.
The cottage is so lovely, and just as advertised! We enjoyed the peace and quiet , the lanai, and the sunsets every day. It is an easy drive to great beaches, food shopping, and has easy access to roads leading to West Maui and the Road to Hana, etc.
This lovely cottage was exactly as advertised. A quiet residential street but near enough to So. Kihei for shops and dining. The kitchen had everything we needed for dining in. Well stocked with towels, beach gear, books and games. The outdoor shower and hot tub were a delightful luxury after a day at the beach. Gorgeous view of the water and nearby islands, we watched the lunar eclipse from the deck with our first-grader, something he'll never forget. We will definitely stay here again on our next Maui adventure.
Our family stayed here for 8 days, my husband and I brought our 2 youngest 1 & 2.5 we all very much enjoyed this beautiful cottage, it truly is a hidda-way in paradise it was every thing that we where hoping and more. We loved the lanai where we would sit out in the morning and have a cup or coffee/ fresh fruit (we picked up at local stand),and jus listening to all the beautiful birds omg... They really are music to ur ears so amazing how beautiful they sound, in fact my Lil ones just adored listening and my older one still makes the sounds of one of birds that he must have loved cus after over a week of being home he still is doing it... For them it was great as well very children friendly... At sunset it was also just beautiful to have a romantic dinner & some drinks watching the sunset from the lanai, it's truly breath taking. The cottage is very well set up for just about anything you'll need down at the beach and upon returning, has shower outside washer/dryer BBQ and what we really used a lot was the clothes line for after returning from beach there was also a sink out side that weused to was out bathing suits and hung up to dry, which they dried quickly cus of the wonderful weather. Another thing to add is the jacuzzi was nice as well to take a mornin or evenin dip, very private ... And last but not least Suzzan was great if you need something she lives next door and is very available and knows tons of great spots for sight seeing/outings, and if not you might not even see her during your stay;;) I can't say enough how amazing/beautiful this cottage is, it was honestly perfect for us, felt like home away from home... And we will definetly be returning in years to come... And jus to add Maui is just as magical as we dreamed.... Mahalo Suzann ;;)
