Pretty view but not much else
The description of the house states that the house is well stocked. It states shampoo, conditioner, soap included in your stay and that the house is fully stocked. There was not one bar of soap, shampoo and conditioner not present in any of the bathrooms. I have rented houses in the past and there were always plastic wrap or tin foil or ziplock bags provided. This house had none. There were no baking sheets. House had a really nice deck and view but the street and neighborhood was sketchy.

A needed break
Wonderful A-frame 2 bedroom home that sleeps up to 6. Modern updates and well appointed, this place is lovingly managed by the owners & management. The hot tub was really clean & deeply relaxing after a long hike in snowshoes. Thanks again for a terrific weekend!

Beautiful and Relaxing
Really great location at the end of the lane. Beautiful surroundings and peaceful. We enjoyed the hot tub with the brisk snowy weather! The corgis enjoyed their stay and their walks through the snowy woods down the the river. The property is very clean and provides everything you would need for a relaxing weekend! We will be back!

Our family has been part of the Lapine community since 1965 when my grandparents retired and built a home here. As kids we spent summers with the grandparents cutting wood, fishing, hiking, and swimming in the Little Deschutes River. So many memories. Years later around the late 90's my parents were out for a random drive and happened upon a cute little cabin on the river that was up for sale. Next thing we knew they too were part of the Lapine community. Now my children were spending summers with their grandparents floating the river and making their own memories. Summers, holidays, vacations, graduations, weddings and other celebrations we have gathered at the cabin as a family Over the years we have added spouses, children and grandchildren. We have said goodbye to loved ones. The cabin has been filled with love and laughter and some tears. We consider ourselves to be blessed to have all these times and memories and to be able to share this special place.

Why they chose this property

Riviera Des Chutes came into the family in 2005 when the neighbors who had built this Aframe as their retirement home back in the 70's, decided they needed to move closer to services. The neighbor property consisted of not only the Aframe and lot, but also two buildable lots between our cabin and the theirs. Yikes! The thought of losing the woods and willows between the two houses, and of two new homes so close was too much. My parents made a deal with the neighbor, called the bank and shortly thereafter became owners of this charming Aframe. The cabin you see today was certainly not the one we walked into back then. It had been built in the 70's and never updated. Dark brown deep shag carpet, avocado green appliances, burnt orange sinks and countertops. A giant wood burning stove in the middle of the living room. Oh my. Luckily for us we had an amazing contractor who had been working for our family on projects for years. He knew log cabins and was a true woodworker. Over the next 18 months with the help of our contractor we transformed this cabin into what you see today. We decided a vacation rental would be the best fit for this beautiful place. It has been over 15 years since we made that decision and what a great journey it has been. Sharing this spot with others makes us happy. Over the years there has been so much joy and happiness here. We have had proposals, engagements, weddings, anniversaries, baby moons, birthdays, reunions, etc. Sometimes it feels like all that wonderfulness has just seeped into the walls. We consider ourselves lucky to be able to be part of all this.

What makes this property unique

Riviera Des Chutes is a beautiful dog friendly cabin. Located on the Little Deschutes River with multiple acres of trees and willows. Abundant wildlife is all around. We have seen deer and elk, wild turkeys, quail, songbirds, squirrels, chipmunks, river otter, beaver, eagles and osprey from our place. I love morning coffee in the hot tub and watching the deer graze in the meadow below. And speaking of the hot tub...the night sky from the hot tub is amazing. The stars truly do look like glittering diamonds in a black velvet sky. The constellations are so much clearer without the light pollution of the big city.
Riviera Des Chutes is within a few miles of town but has a private quiet feel. We are 30 minutes from Mt Bachelor as well as many of the high lakes. Also only 30 minutes from Newberry National Volcanic Monument. Crater Lake National Park is a day trip from the cabin. Hiking trails and outdoor recreation offer many opportunities to explore central Oregon.
