About this property

Custom-designed waterfront vacation home on 18+ acres of pristine natural beauty

With 1000 feet of shoreline, Blue Arches is a beautiful contemporary 4 bedroom 2264 sq ft home on a private cove with spectacular views. This 18 acre oceanfront property is a private sanctuary for those who love coastal Maine. Imagine how nice it will be to have one of the loveliest homes in the desirable Oceanville section of Stonington all to yourself. Blue Arches has a great many decorative touches throughout the home including hardwood flooring, tasteful furnishings and a lovely brick fireplace. The landscaped grounds and gardens are filled with flowers for cutting and enjoying.

Blue Arches is a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home. The attractive first floor is filled with light and all rooms have beautiful views of either the water or surrounding gardens. The main floor includes a spacious, well-equipped kitchen to satisfy even the best cook, a glassed-in, formal dining area. The office/den offers a desk with a stunning view that can double as a quiet reading nook or TV room. This well-laid out home has an inviting, stylish living room with plenty of seating for family gatherings.

Blue Arches has three first floor bedrooms with a full bath, half bath and laundry room.

The entire second floor of Blue Arches houses the master suite with king bed, ocean views, tall ceilings and warm woodwork. A large closet and a master bathroom with bidet and jacuzzi complete the suite.

The exterior of Blue Arches provides many great features including a wrap-around deck which connects to a screened-in porch as well as a covered section of porch where you can spend an afternoon reading and admiring the movement of the tides, blue herons and other birds that live in this pretty cove - sometimes we even have a seal come for a visit!

We have CABLE TV as well as HIGH SPEED INTERNET for live-streaming movies, and multiple people online at the same time.

ENJOY YOUR MUSIC or radio throughout the house. The house is wired for sound so that you can easily play music throughout the house from a smart phone, iPad, computer or iPod. Just plug in and play - you can play sound in certain rooms and not in others according to your choice.

The yard is protected by woods that are perfect for a walk or a wander. The lawn is big and open providing the perfect place for yard games (bocce ball, badmitten, horseshoes, volleyball - equipment supplied) or simply sitting and basking in the quiet beauty of this idyllic setting while watching the hummingbirds dance around the flower beds. An enchanting variety of perennial and annual flowers all around the grounds provide lovely scents and bouquets for you to enjoy.

Blue Arches has the perfect spot to launch your kayaks, and for the more adventurous, afternoon swims are a refreshing treat. There are great hikes on the island!

If you're looking for a spacious and well-kept vacation rental that feels like an island sanctuary for your friends or family retreat on the beautiful Maine coastline, this home will be the perfect fit for you and your loved ones!

Downtown Stonington Village is just two miles away. It's a lovely, picture perfect working fishing with a charming Main Street dotted with shops and restaurants that makes you feel like you have stepped into a Norman Rockwell painting. Architectural Digest Magazine named Stonington the "Prettiest Town in Maine."

Acadia and Bar Harbor are close by for fun day trips - whale watches and more!

Labor Day Bliss
WE absolutely loved our stay. The location and surrounding beauty was outstanding. We would love to bring our whole family next time and stay a little longer. We would really like to enjoy the surrounding outdoors more. Our host was wonderfully communicative.

Beautiful house with lovely views!
The host could not have been more responsive! The weather was mostly rainy for much of our stay and it was great to be able to tuck up and watch the changing tides from inside the house!

Maine trip
The house was perfect in every way. It was private and the view of the cove was breathtaking. The property owner gave us so many recommendations on things to do on the island and restaurants near by. We are planning on a return trip. Highly recommend this place!

The best of Downeast Maine
My wife, sister in law, brother in law, and myself stayed at Blue Arches on Deer Isle. Blue Arches is located on the ocean front away from all the traffic/noise of everyday life. Even being away from it all, you are only a couple of miles from the town of Stonington where there are a ton of things to do, good restaurants, shops, and a great coffee shop. Lastly Stonington is the lobster capital of Maine so you can walk the water front and watch the lobster fleet come and go. On Deer Isle there are several hiking trails not very long but they allow you to experience the area and the wildlife of the same. We also played golf on the island, did some fishing, and generally enjoyed our stay.

About the host

We were so fortunate to be able to purchase this land and work with an architect to build our family dream home. It was designed to integrate with the surrounding natural beauty—the ocean, the forest, the sun. Our kids and grandkids have loved Blue Arches and we hope your family does too.

Why they chose this property

One of the unique features of this area is the great Blue Heron, which you'll likely see when you stay. We love these majestic birds and the blue arches we built in the foyer entrance and garden patio are designed to pay them homage.
