Not as big as pictured
Was not aware that the right side of the house was unavailable. Not being able to turn on/off the lights in the media room was a bit of a hassle. But the toughest part was not having running water to flush toilets or shower from 8PM until about Midnight - due to well water? Totally unexpected.

Wonderland away from home
The experience was absolute paradise. The property out in hilly woods covered with tall pine trees all covered in snow was phenomenal! The house on the inside was gorgeous and spacious with Christmas decorations and antique vintage furniture in every room! My sons cried when we had to leave. They are still taking off this experience! The host was hospitable and friendly and even had fresh baked chocolate chip cookies waiting for us upon arrival.

About the host

Your host JC that’s me, loves the outdoors, taking a walks in the mountains, skiing, fishing, cooking in our gourmet kitchen, BBQ grilling on the huge deck all right here at Bear Mt Lodge. It is so satisfying to have guest experience this unique place, and to hear about their stories, and the best part is to have shared a taste of our natural environment setting to sense, and feel what I do every day is awesome! I really appreciate rustic log, and rock architecture. The lodge is a unique fusion of European mountain chateau design, my dream come true to have designed and built this lodge, I am truly blessed. My eclectic taste in music brings life, and listening pleasure. It is all part of the mood, from Spanish guitar, new age sounds, top 40, Instrumentals, including Gospel, and so many more are all artistic expression, an art form, creative, and spiritually inspirational to me. In the Great room a place I have enjoyed reading many books. To read by the embers of the wood burning stove, or listing to the frogs croaking in the pond through the open windows is so relaxing. Durning a snow storm, drinking a hot chocolate, or sitting on the deck on a late summers making s’mores, and taking in the celestial night sky. Watching a quality movies in the digital Ram room, is a great place to kick back , and I have enjoyed spending many entertaining hours. The third floor has all my favorites in this incredible game room so many friends, and family have hung out playing pool, cards, or one of the many entertaining things to do that I have collected over the years. As you can guess by now why It is so intriguing in this place that is so peaceful, serene, and nobody wants to leave, and to hear we are coming back for sure is so gratifying to me. So find out for yourself on your first retreat or the next time you come back, there is always something new to experience in my favorite place.

Why they chose this property

The Fairy Tale like setting nestled in the forrest, mountain tops, fresh air the angles breathe, pristine water from our well became my palette for my dream home. I have traveled internationally, and as architect & builder gave me the perfect place in a fusion of creativity began to construct my home over a quarter century ago. Living in a inspirational place brought creativity with a spiritual sense.

We are surrounded by nature, and four seasons, with the wildlife right out my front door. The bears have made many memorable visits, and stories we can tell but never will forget. This is where my wife and I of 44 years raised our family, enjoyed our friends, and so many very special guest from around the world they too have experienced. The privacy to have lived years on almost 20 acres, surrounded by national forrest, so close to the village is unparalleled any place I have been.

Now our family grown, married, all live close to us in there own homes. So having such a special place we decided to share this with you, for all who would like to come stay. Bear Mt. Lodge seemed the perfect name, so now you are invited to have your wedding vows, bring your family, friends, or have a special event, and make a memory you will never forget. We are only an hour and half from Souther California in every direction. So what are you waiting for, pick a date, give in to your curiosity, and experience this special place, and have a great time!

What makes this property unique

The Uniqueness of this special property came to us just spending time on the land, with family and friends on weekends before the lodge was even a thought. We had picnics, nature walks, brought horses, had BBQ’s, and began to feel the sense this was no ordinary place.

Both my wife Riva, and I native Californians living in Orange County my whole life. My wife and I had a beautiful custom home I built in a gated community we both loved. Our original intent was to subdivide, build, and sell the property. In time the idea was apparent to sell our home in OC, and move to the mountains, and so it was.

My wife surprised me on my 40th birthday and put up a huge tent, it had just snowed, and she had invited all our friends from the city to come up for the celebration. We had live music, a real stage coach, hay wagon rides, horses, cowboys. It was sensational when the real magic hit that this is where we are to build our home in this memorable location.

We saw first hand how everyone enjoyed themselves like never before. The rest of the story is history, and now we are extending the invitation to you to come experience Bear Mt. Lodge.
