I am a private pilot and could choose to have my vacation home anywhere; but I chose Spencer, TN. Why? Friendly folks, natural beauty, peaceful living. That's what I want in a vacation. You are close enough to Knoxville, Chattanooga or Nashville to go enjoy the Grand Ole Opre for an evening then come back out of civilization to the tranquility of the cabin.
Terry Carbonell purchased this cabin in 2006
There are 10 State Recreational Parks in the Cumberland Plateau area; miles of waterways and some of the friendliest people you will ever meet.
Fall Creek Falls is amazing but do not overlook the other attractions in the area: Burgess Falls, Rock Island Falls, Cumberland Caves, Edgar Evans State Park, the Centerhill Lake area and the red roof cabin at Mountain Crest!
While the area is beautiful - the red roof cabin at Mountain Crest IS your vacation destination. There is everything you could possibly need for a long term or a short terms stay. No worries if it rains: with over 400 movies, games, satellite TV and internet, there is no need to go anywhere else.
My favorite things to do at Mountain Crest:
1. Sit by the fire
2. Sleep by the fire
3. Work by the fire (do you see a theme here?)
4. Play games in the game room
5. Sit on the porch swing and watch the day go by
We enjoyed our stay very much. Locals said it was very cold but for us it was warmer then home, so temps felt great. Fall Creek Falls is just a short distance from the home which was awesome. Internet did drop out for most of last day, but if your not into that it’s no problem, there lots of movies and books avalible. Fireplace works great and they provide plenty of split wood. We did not see matches or lighter so make sure if you want to use fireplace might bring one but if not it’s a short distance to a station to get things. View is absolutely beautiful with creek and pond.
Amazing and beautiful!
We enjoyed staying at this cabin November 17 - 19th. Our family loved the ping pong and pool table. It has beautiful views and was very clean. We have stayed at several VRBO homes and this one was one of the best...it was stocked with so many extra things especially in the kitchen that made cooking easier. We will definitely be back and stay longer!
Beautiful, spacious, immaculate, fantastic views! Ideal for family getaway. Exceptional!
Absolutely great property and we will be back. In striking distance to many great parks and waterfalls in middle Tennessee. Great for families to unplug from tech and just relax.
Only feedback would be to sacrifice a little space in downstairs bedroom and provide a queen bed. Full is a bit tight for two adults.
Needs new pool sticks and pingpong paddles but other than that perfect get away!
Cabin sits on 5 acres on the side of the mountain. We have built a hiking trail to the bottom of the mountain where you can look out to see the expansive view from the bottom of the valley (January 2012). Just completed May 2012 is the hiking trail to the top of the mountain where you will be able to look down over the valley below.
