Villa Verde is one of three villas situated at Quintinha au Sol, which has featured in TV's 'My Place in the Sun'. They are newly built and privately owned. Quintinha au Sol is a small rural property located in Gaula which is about 300 metres directly above Santa Cruz and less than 10 minutes from the airport. There are spectacular views over the bay of Abra, towards the Deserta Islands and to Ponto Sao Lorenço, the eastern tip of Madeira. At the same time Gaula is only twenty minutes from the centre of Funchal.

The villa is ideally situated for walkers and golfers - the Gaula levada, which is at the eastern end of the 'Levada dos Tornos', is less than 5 kilometres away and the two internationally famous golf courses, Palheiro and Santa da Serra, are both less than15 minutes by car.

With large balconies, terraced areas and mature gardens surrounding the villa, there is ample choice of seating and relaxing areas.............ideal for al fresco dreaming, drinking and dining!

Villa Verde is licensed for tourism under the strictly-regulated Madeiran 'Alojemente Locale' scheme (AL). The scheme requires holiday villas to conform to high safety, quality, service and insurance standards. For example, in the interests of safety, the villas only have electric equipment; there are no gas appliances. Mosquito nets are fitted to all bedroom windows. There is a WiFi internet connection and Satellite TV with 200+ channels

Amazing view
Great views, Very nice villa and outdoor areas, including pool were great. Peter was extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this property.

Not for the faint-hearted.
Although a bright and pleasant house, it is showing signs of a lack of maintenance, with numerous marks on the walls, several lights that don't work (along with the clock and the safe), doors which constantly rattle with air movement, handrails with peeling paint that comes off on your hands and clothing, and a front door lock which doesn't latch. The location is good, with great sea views, and even though the airport is so close you can see down onto the runway, the noise is not excessive. We stayed for 3 weeks, but the pool was only cleaned once, towels and bedding only changed once, and the villa wasn't cleaned at all. Not that we're dirty people, it just could have benifitted from a sweep or hoover, and the bathrooms being cleaned. Don't come to Madeira at all if you're a nervous driver, because the roads are all very narrow (single track) and incredibly steep, and the villa driveway is also both of these, with a very tight turning point by the house. We had a comparatively small car (Citroën C3) and I'm a confident driver, but I wouldn't want to try and turn anything bigger between the spikey-concrete walls 😉 The hosts, Peter and Fiona, were very cheerful and pleasant people, and were very accommodating with regards to check in and out timings.

We had an amazing stay in Madeira, the house was just like the pictures, amazing view of the ocean and a very quiet neighborhood. We were able to relax, and have great vacactions, I recommend this house 100%

Great short week of 8 days. Made fantastic hikings. Strongly recommended the WalkMe Madeira app. This app will bring you also exactly to the right start of the hike. In case of maintenance of the hike keep you on the right track.
