About this property

Cottage retreat 1/2 block to beach & bike path! Includes 2 bikes. Bring the dog!

Thanks for looking at our vacation cottage!

This is a four seasons home that is ready to keep you warm through a U.P. winter storm or welcome you in the summer to a cool lake breeze.

At 414 SF, this house is sized for a couple looking to escape to the U.P. We are pet friendly, so bring your dog! There is a $95 pet fee so please be sure to include "pets" with the number of people staying. Pets are people too! :) We will consider a second pet for an additional $95 per stay.

The home is located in Marquette's historic East Side and is only a half block to the most popular beach in Marquette. From Spring through Fall, the rental includes two 3 speed cruiser bikes. With the bike path less than a 30 second pedal away, it's up to you to decide if you want to go to Presque Isle Park, the Third Street Village, the downtown restaurants or Farmer's Market, or maybe the brew pubs after a full day on the beach, mountain biking, or skiing.

The home has been decorated with a mix of whimsy and local history. It has a comfortable queen sized bed, air conditioner, new furnace, and washer and dryer. Please note that the bathroom is small, as shown in the photos. While most find the bathroom manageable, if you are a larger/taller person or have mobility issues you might have a difficult time.

The home also includes WiFi and Netflix.

The patio doors in the living room open to a deck and a private backyard. The deck has a patio set and deck chairs.

The private backyard is fenced in with convenient access from the patio doors. The home is pet-friendly and allows up to two dogs for an additional $95 per dog per stay. (Because the VRBO billing system only accounts for one dog, please let us know if you will be bringing two dogs and we will add the additional charge to your reservation.) Pets are not allowed on the furniture and bed and we do ask that you clean up after your dog after he uses the yard with the disposable doggie bags that are provided in the shed.

This house is a carriage house, which means it shares the property with another house. The other house is occupied by quiet long-term renters. The driveway is shared with the long-term renters but your home has its own allotted parking space and has its own private fenced in backyard.

We are locals and live just a block away! We are happy to help you make the most of your stay. We don't think you'll find a better location in Marquette and look forward to hearing from you!

Cozy and Convenient!
Greg and Kate's little lakeside cottage in Marquette was an awesome place to stay. It was super comfortable, immaculately clean, and in a great location. We had a great stay and would stay again in a heartbeat.

My husband and I would definitely consider staying here again. The cottage is quaint and clean. The owners have gone out of their way to provide thoughtful touches and the decor reflects local culture. We slept great! -In part due to the quiet neighborhood and cooler weather, but also because the bed is pretty comfy. The shower is powerful with hot water to spare. (Pull the disc underneath the faucet down to divert the water stream.) A few other pointers: Bring small garbage/shopping bags. The toilet positioning in the bathroom is suited to smaller framed people, but can be managed if you are “slightly” overweight. If you are especially tall, you will be challenged. The stovetop is gas and has 1 cooking temperature (high), so plan your meals accordingly. There is a toaster oven, regular oven, and microwave. There is a charcoal grill outside (with charcoal provided).

My wife Kate and I have lived in Marquette since 2005. Kate is a Registered Nurse and I am a Professional Engineer. We both retired in 2017.

Kate and I are both outdoor enthusiasts and enjoy stepping out our front door and finding ourselves at the lake or in the woods within minutes. We both love trail running and the miles of trails that branch out from the City.

Why they chose this property

My wife and I own several long-term rental houses in the City. We bought this home in 2010 and chose the home to be a vacation home because it is close to the lake and a perfect little cottage for a couple or family looking to be near all of Marquette's most popular destinations.

What makes this property unique

We don't think you'll find a house that's closer to everything that Marquette has to offer, from it's pristine beaches to it's fabulous parks, or vibrant downtown. Our goal is to have you park your car and be within walking and biking distance to all of Marquette's popular destinations.

We pride ourselves on being attentive and providing you a cozy, clean, comfortable, and affordable home away from home.
