Artists: This is the perfect place to bring out your inner artist! This year you will be happy to find that we re-purposed an outdoor work-space into a functional art and craft space for a singular artist or a family with children included. Our family has small children so we have created some easy, fun activities for other kids and families to enjoy. Activities and where to find supplies and other resources will be included in your welcome package. The space includes a child size drafting table, adequate storage for any supplies you bring, inspiration all over the property and further into the woods and around the lake. Any supplies or materials left there are yours to use but not take.
This four bedroom, two full bath home is from another simpler era yet has many of the modern conveniences - open plan great room with full size frig, electric stove, microwave, TV, internet, DVD (and loads of movies) and washer/dryer. **A little about the area:
Originally the Sacandaga Valley was home to the Mohawk Indians and was settled by Sir William Johnson in the 1700s. In the 1920's the Valley was a booming resort town with luxurious and beautifully landscaped inns with golf courses, a sports complex, off Broadway Theater and amusement park with a roller coaster!
However, the waters of the Sacandaga River and the Hudson flooded with run-off every spring causing great damage to homes and businesses. Work to flood the valley began in the 1920's and the great Conklingville Dam was put to use in the Spring of 1930 filling the great valley with 283 billion gallons of water!
Today the Great Sacandaga Reservoir is an undiscovered Mecca for boating, water sports, snowmobiling, skiing, fishing and all kinds of recreation. Historical markers and museums mark the great events of the area. Antiques and crafts are found little shops everywhere. And we boast some of the best lake front dining around! Unlike other lakes the Great Sacandaga Lake is still quaint and pristine! And Last Year it was voted the 2nd best place in the country to be for our nightlife by Snogoer Magazine! We invite you to join us in an unforgettable Adirondack experience!
