Perfect Place for Napa Getaway

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here Jan - Apr 2015. This was our second stop on our new full-time work/travel lifestyle following Charleston, SC. The location was ideal – less than a 10 min walk to downtown St Helena. The house was spotless when we arrived and we were happy to keep Susan’s housekeeper on throughout our stay.

Susan was a very responsive owner and easily accommodated extra requests we had for expanded cable and reactivating the landline for work. We loved the gardens in front and in back of the house and helped ourselves to lemons regularly. The kitchen is well-stocked and has more dishware than Williams & Sonoma! Loved the spacious and quiet back deck, reading some of the books in the living room library, and the luxury towels in the bathroom. The master bedroom bed was very comfortable, though not having a dresser made clothing storage a bit of a challenge during our long-term stay.

Traffic was a bit loud at times given the house is on the main Rt29 drag outside of town, but it wasn't a significant disruption. Our only suggestions for improvement include: replacing living room sofa (cushions go flat), replace the router/modem setup (as it needed frequent resets), provide extra pillows for guests, and perhaps include a few games in the closet for nights at home!

Susan’s house was a great home for us during our Napa valley stay where we visited (and reviewed) more than 120 wineries! We would definitely stay again!

Very nice

  • 5 of 5

Very nice cute little house. Perfect for 4 people, nicely decorated, fully equipped kitchen, nice deck with table and chairs to eat outside, big backyard with a fire pit to roast marshmallows, super comfortable beds, nice big bathroom, and good location in St Helena close to everything. I would definitely stay here again.

Truly beautiful place, like staying in Tuscany!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in June 2013 and absolutely loved this house. It radiates charm, comfort, grace and style. Perfectly appointed, and the beds are quite comfy. I especially loved sitting out on the patio late at night to enjoy the cool breezes wafting through the trees. I highly recommend staying at this house - not only is it a terrific home away from home, but Susan the owner is a delight.

Charming home in St. Helena, Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in June 2011 for our 6 day trip to wine country.

The house -- perfectly appointed with everything you could possibly want with a beautiful huge back patio (the picture does not do it justice). The patio has a table, two lounger chairs, a love seat and two more cushioned chairs and stretches across the back of the house with gorgeous views. The back yard was lovely as well. We regularly came back to the house and relaxed on the deck and cooked in a couple of nights. The bedrooms are good sized and there was plenty of closet space (and I pack heavy!) There is only one bathroom but it is a very large bathroom with a lovely tile shower and plenty of room to get ready. There is a full sized dining room as well which you don't see in the pictures. The living room is cozy and there is a TV with cable in there, although we hardly spent anytime inside at all. The wifi was great and we had a strong signal even outside.

The location - it was perfect. Just on the edge of St. Helena you can walk downtown if you'd like or to a couple of wineries. The Culinary Insitute is just up the road. All of the wineries we wanted to visit were easily reachable and we were very pleased with the location. There is ample off street parking in the back of the house as well. We found it very quite and peaceful.

If you are considering a trip to wine country, I'd highly recommend this house. We knew nothing about the location but found that it turned out to be far more central than we had imagined. It was only a short drive north to a ton of wineries and Calistoga, Rutherford was a very easy drive (7 minutes) and the food in St. Helena was excellent and reasonable as well. There was also a lovely grocery store on the south side of town that had amazing pre-prepared foods.

We are already planning our trip back and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Lovely Home

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommend this home. We stayed during Thanksgiving week and thoroughly enjoyed this home. It really feels like being in your own home and the kitchen is extremely well equipped. The deck is big enough to enjoy some wine and apps. The backyard is also beautiful and hope to come back to enjoy it during some warmer months. It would also be a great girls getaway place. Owner very easy to work with.
