The Yang and the Ying...
I'd call this rental a super-expensive beach shack. Reminiscent of a 1950's Malibu beach house that has literally not been updated since the 1960's. Here are just some of the issues we encountered:
The casita door, in the room closest to the beach doesn't lock.
The top dishwasher rack was broken.
In the main house bathroom, the cold water sink faucet handle was hardly working, by the time we left, it had completely broken.
In the same bathroom, the toilet handle would stick and water would continually run... not very environmentally friendly.
Several of the doors (and there were many doors in this beach shack) were stuck and quite difficult to open.
There is a lock at the gate going to the beach, it's new but already very difficult to open and close--this is a rust issue being so close to the water (I know this because we too have a beach house in Southern California.) It won't be operable for long.
When I left the house I contacted Beachnest on their check-out. Never heard a word from them.
Now the Ying... the location is wonderful. Lot's of gates, and very private. The yard and patio was amazing, plenty of space to visit with family and friends. The shower water pressue in the main house was great!
All in all, if the property owner takes care of the issues I've outlined above, and you don't mind paying a hefty price for a shabby, and in a weird way charmingly funky, beach house this is your place!
