The village is located in a privileged place of the Guadiana river, natural beauty, with a deafening silence. It has a spectacular harbor mineral heritage of great importance as Puerto de la Laja industrial district is located in the municipality of El Granado.

"The House of Olives" is on the edge of the mining village of Puerto de la Laja banks of the Guadiana river, declared of Cultural Interest by the Government of Andalusia in the category of Historical Site. The "House of the Fisherman" is quartered in the eastern mining town of Puerto de la Laja, it is so named because its inhabitants was the last eel fisherman. The "House of the Latrines" comes from the reconstruction of the ruins of the houses in the mining village "Puerto de la Laja", next to the old latrines. The "House of the oven" is located in the west end of "Puerto de la Laja" looking at Brook Brown. It is dividing with another mining house "House Engineer", and the chapel, whose religious objects have been restored.
The restoration has managed to leave testimony of a typical house in the mining village. It consists of two buildings which include areas of night and day linked through the courtyard, the true heart of the house. Across the courtyard you enter the house, he finds an old oven.

The "House of the Engineer" located at the end of the main quartered the mining town overlooking the river Guadiana. Fin de semana estupendo
Hemos estado un fin de semana en tres casas (Horno, Ingeniero y Letrinas altas) un grupo de 8 adultos y 8 niños. Las casas están superbien. Tienen todas las comodidades y están muy bien preparadas. Sobre todo las chimeneas!!! El entorno es una maravilla, junto al río Guadiana. Los niños se lo han pasado genial y sus padre también. Quisiera agradecer a Jorge sus gestiones y recomendaciones y a Manoli su recibimiento y amabilidad. Volveremos!!!

El secreto mejor guardado
El secreto mejor guardado de Huelva. Sanlucar del Guadiana, Alcautim, Pomarao.....como no los conocia!!! Estupendas rutas de senderismo, playas fluviales, paseos en barco, buena comida,...... Si todo esto lo acompañas con un buen alojamiento y buena compañia,... Las casas del puerto de la laja son amplias y comodas. Decoradas con buen gusto y algunas con excelentes vistas. Un sitio ideal para empezar a descubrir.....guardame el secreto.

Encantados y sorprendidos
Escribo estas líneas porque toda la familia hemos vuelto encantados y sorprendidos con el entorno el cual no conocíamos aún siendo de Huelva, estuvimos en la casa Letrinas Alta la cual tiene unas vistas muy buenas al Guadiana y unos dormitorios enormes,el atardecer fue espectacular. El trato de los propietarios y de la encargada Manoli fue correcto en todo momento. Recomiendo el paseo por la orilla del río hasta Pomarao, los niños no querían irse y esa es la mejor señal de que se lo pasaron bien, lo recomiendo. La tirolina de Sanlucar entre España y Portugal es algo que hay que probar........emocionante.

Excelente!
Muy buen trato al cliente, además se agradece que el propietario sea una persona muy comprometida con el medio ambiente y defienda un turismo sostenible. Ya había estado un año antes en Valdelarco, en una casa de la misma propiedad, y tenía muy buenos recuerdos, fue allí donde oí hablar del Puerto de la Laja. Hemos estado en la “Casa de los Olivos”, un matrimonio de amigos, mi pareja y yo, intentando escapar un fin de semana del ruido de la ciudad y tanta red social, y recomiendo la experiencia. Un salón muy amplio, (ver el Guadiana “a tus pies” por la amplia ventana abierta te inunda en seguida de paz) que comparte el mismo espacio con la cocina, provista de todo lo necesario para una estancia. La terraza con suelo de madera invita a desayunar o tomar el aperitivo mientras se contempla la naturaleza en su estado más puro. No nos ha molestado nadie en todo el tiempo, y los pocos vecinos que viven en la aldea son muy amables. Hemos disfrutado de paseos interminables, la Vía Verde que recuerda al viejo tren minero a cada paso es casi obligatoria… A pocos minutos en coche en dirección a Portugal te encuentras con la primera aldea de este país, Pomarao, un sitio muy pintoresco cuyos callejones, esquinas y puertas piden foto. Justo en la entrada, un pequeño restaurante familiar, “Café do Casi”, nos encantó la atención y la comida casera, a la sombra de un enorme ficus, contemplando el río y su pequeño puerto. En dos palabras, fantástica experiencia. Un sitio desconocido por la gran mayoría, que invita volver. En la “Casa de los Olivos” he redescubierto el sueño, jeje!
