About this property

Large Country Chic Villa in a Landscaped Private Garden with Pool.

Villa Teresa boasts elegant, spacious interiors that have been lovingly furnished by its owners who built it from its foundations. Outside is a fabulous private pool, immersed in mature, beautifully designed private gardens of 3.500 square meters offering views of Mt. Etna and of the Ionian sea.
The property has been entirely renovated in 2018. The main entrance takes you in a spacious glass porch from which you can enjoy a view over the pool and the Volcano. One side of the porch, which is closed and provided with hot/cold conditioner, accesses a kitchenette and a dining area equipped with a 12-seat table. A second dining area is just outside the porch, under a shaded gazebo equipped with a large barbecue and a wrought-iron table. A lounge area with Afrormosia parquet, equipped with leather couches and a LCD TV 42" accesses the main kitchen on one side and the sleeping quarters on the other: three spacious, comfortable double bedrooms (one of which with en-suite bathroom), and a triple bedrooms, a nursery room equipped with cot and a laundry room equipped with washing machine and changing table. Additional single bed and baby bed are available upon request.
Two double bedrooms access a private terrace with views of the Ionian sea as far as Catania and Taormina. Two bedrooms access the open side of the porch, equipped with a wooden table and a wicker sofa, overlooking the swimming pool. Each of the four bedrooms is equipped with independent hot\cold air conditioner and screen doors.

Villa Teresa has a maximum sleeping capacity of ten adults and two infants (0-3 years).
Under no circumstances can the number of guests exceed the number if not agreed on in advance.

GARDEN & POOL
The villa is set in its own private, landscaped garden dotted with fruit trees and fragrant flowers that make it perfect for a relaxing stroll. The private pool, measuring 15x12 metres, is equipped with high quality deck chairs and parasols.
Pool cleaning and grass watering are carried out, according to need, early in the morning or late evening in order to assure total privacy and exclusive use of the garden and pool.

THE TOWN
Villa Teresa lies only 500 metres away from Santa Venerina, a town of 8.000 inhabitants famed for the production of sweets, wine and liqueurs. In the village, just 5 minutes walking distance, there are good restaurants, supermarkets and shops.
This quiet, landscaped village offers a number of relaxing activities which can be booked from the property: wine tours, massage, tennis and horse riding.
You can also book guided tours to Mt Etna, Taormina and the marine reserve of Aci Trezza.
The owners, who live in a neighbouring property, will be available for any tips on the area during your stay.

THE SURROUNDINGS
Santa Venerina is an excellent base from which to explore eastern Sicily, thanks to its very strategic position halfway between Catania and Taormina. The village is 5 minutes drive from the highway A18 Catania-Messina from which (in an average time of 20 minutes) you can reach the most beautiful places of Eastern Sicily, such as Taormina, Alcantara Gorge, Catania, Acicastello, Acireale, Etna, Giardini Naxos...
The charming baroque town of Acireale is only 15 km away from Santa Venerina. It is situated next to the 'Riviera dei Ciclopi', a unique coast with a crystal clear sea and lava stacks (Faraglioni) which is believed by Greek mythology to correspond to the stones thrown by blind Polifemo to Ulysses. The Riviera traditional resort towns of Acicastello and Acitrezza have long been a magnet for local day trips and offer arguably the best Granita to be found anywhere and lots of good seafood trattorias. Catania, with its rich architectural heritage, its vibrant markets, restaurants and shops, is only 30 minutes away from the village.

The east coast Ionian Riviera has some of Sicily's most picturesque pebbly and sandy beaches including those of Isola Bella, Giardini Naxos and Letojanni (below Taormina). Santa Venerina is just 25 km from Gardini Naxos and 30 km (20 minutes with the highway) from Taormina, which draws more visitors than any other town in Sicily, thanks to its splendid position, its elegant shops, and its Graeco-Roman theatre with a unique view of Mount Etna. Torre Archirafi, Pozzillo and Santa Maria la Scala are pleasant seaside villages near Santa Venerina. The nearest beaches can be found in Praiola, Stazzo and Pozzillo (8 km).

Santa Venerina is also an excellent starting point from which to explore Mount Etna and its surroundings. The towns and villages that dot the flanks of Etna, such as Zafferana Etnea, Trecastagni and Randazzo, are well worth stopping off for a visit to their seventeenth century churches built in lava stone or for a spot of lunch in restaurants offering delicious local products. The village is only 4 km away from Zafferana Etnea and 10 km from Rifugio Sapienza, the main ski area, where you can take the Etna cableway, up to the main craters.

The sun of Sicily holds the record in Europe and maintains a mild climate throughout the year. Spring is the ideal time to enjoy the culture and nature that this island has to offer. It’s well worth making a trip just to experience the Easter processions, bringing together folklore and tradition in an incredibly mystic way.
The interior is spectacular, with the mountain slopes exploding in colour, while on the coast the first bathers start taking to the beaches.
In autumn, throughout October and mid-November, the sea water is still warmed by the summer sun, and the daytime temperature still reaches 30°c during the warmest hours. In many towns around Etna there are festivals dedicated to local products such as wine, mushrooms and sweets.
The villa is suitable for winter, Christmas and New Year. The weather between December and March can often be mild and sunny, but the villa offers good heating systems, wi-fi and plenty of indoor space just in case!

A perfect house for a family stay with cars
We had a lovely stay. We enjoyed the big pool and garden. And with cars it was easy to get around to lots of places. A very kindly and helpful owner.

Fantastic Villa Teresa
The communication and help we got from Nadia both before and during our stay was fantastic. We had a 3 stop tour of Sicily so needed a transfer from Taormina to the villa and then to Catania. Nadia arranged this for us and it was perfect. Thank you. The villa itself was perfect for our group. 3 adult couples with double rooms, and 2 11 year old sharing in the main villa, and the five teen boys all sharing the additional annexe away from the villa. This was perfect for everyone and again Nadia was so helpful in organising the beds to make it work. The villa was very clean, with decent kitchen, but with more cooking space in the lean to plus small barbecue, this was more than adequate. The gardens were lovely and we'll kept and the pool was amazing! Really big pool that allowed young and old to share without being in each others way, with deep and shallow areas. Perfetto! The villa was very secure with electronic gates and enough room for three cars (albeit tight). The walk into Santa Venerina is about 10 mins to the nearest restaurant, which was absolutely fab, La Bisteccona (great tomahawk steaks) with some others a further 5-10 mins. There are two lovely cafes for granita and panne in the mornings. The walk itself is on a main road, so you have to be careful, but it really isn't too bad. The 13 of us managed quite easily, and it's generally flat. All in all, can't recommend this villa enough, amazing, enjoyable stay with fantastic hosts. Grazie mille Nadia!

Lovely villa and very large pool and gardens. Minor problem with one toilet not flushing but owners tried to get fixed. Walk into town with nice bar and restaurants but need car as no easy bus or taxi services from villa elsewhere, although good trains from nearby station. Overall excellent stay, and lovely views of Mt Etna from garden

A small piece of paradise!
Villa Teresa is located off a busy street, but is secluded with beautiful landscaping and conveniently sandwiched between Mt Etna and the Ionian Sea—with beautiful views of both! It was the perfect place for our multi-generational family of nine to stay for the week. We enjoyed the variety of day trips we could make from our location, and the freedom to choose whether we’d go out to eat or cook in the well-equipped kitchen. The doors and windows were well-made, but somewhat difficult to maneuver. Nadia and Fabio were quite attentive to our needs and ready to help with any questions or issues we had. We recommend buying the food parcel offered, as it was a great, inexpensive way to have a variety of food and drink available upon arrival (most stores are closed in the afternoon, making it hard to shop upon arrival).

Hi there! My name is Nadia. I graduated in Foreign Languages and Literatures in 2011 and I'm a teacher since 2013. My brother Fabio has lived and worked in Stockholm for a few years as a sound engineer before moving back to Sicily in 2014. Although cultivating an unbridled passion for travel I have always been living in Sicily, where my parents Angelo and Maria Teresa ( a builder and a landscape architect, respectively) teamed up to realize our little paradise.

Why they chose this property

My father bought our property in 1986. He was enchanted by the beauty of that vast plot of land cultivated with vineyards and citrus groves that offered an unrivaled view and that, despite being in the countryside, was so well connected to neighboring towns.
On the property was a winery that, once restored, became our home for a few years. This lovely home which has recently been refurbished, is now the villa's outhouse. Villa Teresa was built by my parents from its foundations between 1988 and 1995, with great dedication and extreme care for details. My family and I have lived there until 2010.
We share our property with genuine passion, aware and proud of the uniqueness of this place. Guests enjoy total privacy and breathtaking views in a relaxing natural setting, between palm trees, flowers and fruit trees.

What makes this property unique

The villa, garden and pool have been designed and built by my parents Angelo and Maria Teresa.
The furnishings, parquet and finishes in wood, lava stone and terracotta have been chosen with great care. The beautiful handcrafted wooden doors and parquet are made of Afrormosia, an exotic hardwood among the most valuable in the world.
