About this property

A rural retreat. Great for family holidays and get-togethers.

1 The Green is a delightful 4 bed-roomed holiday cottage in the village of Muston in the Vale of Belvoir (pronounced “Beever”).

This house is a favourite with dog walkers, families and for family reunions and weddings. It is cosy in the winter and peaceful in the summer. Many guests are returners.

The house is actually two farm cottages joined together to make a family house of four bedrooms with gas central heating. The house is newly restored in a sympathetic style using natural ecological paint, and is furnished with antique pieces to suit the house. There is an ample supply of glassware, china and linen. There is a large kitchen with electric stove, microwave oven, fridge, freezer, washing machine and tumble drier; a large sitting- room with television and open fire and an elegant separate dining- room/study.

There are two double bedrooms with double beds and two single bedrooms. There is a bathroom, shower room and a downstairs cloakroom. Outside there is Outside there is a large front lawn, and at the rear a patio garden. A small conservatory serves as a store for bicycles, walking gear and garden furniture.

A perfect place for all ages
This is a lovely property. It was very well appointed, comfortable and set in a beautiful and peaceful village. Perfect for a family of 6 (four adults and two children aged 5 and 8). The children enjoyed the front yard as well as the great playground (2 minutes away from the house). The area is rich in history (Belvoir, Grantham ...) and there are so many beautiful walks along the canals. From a practical point of view, it was very easy to get groceries in the nearby villages. I would highly recommend it to any family, providing the children are not unruly as the house has many antiques. Our grandchildren are used to that type of environment, so we had no problem. Even doing dishes by hand was not so bad! It was a time to catch up with our son. I am very glad I found this property as it allowed us to discover a beautiful part of the Midlands.

Beat property we have stayed in.
The cottage is situated in a peaceful rural environment yet just a minute or two's drive from the A52 with easy access to Grantham, Nottingham and beyond. The cottage itself is spacious and homely with every facility you could wish for. We loved it. Lynn has thought of everything and likes to communicate personally to ensure her guests are fully briefed about the cottage, its history and the local area. Fabulous!

Great start to the new year
We booked the cottage to bring in the new year, how glad we were to book with Lynn, from the first booking enquiry to leaving the property everything was superb, everything you need for your stay is in the cottage. There are plenty of walks to go on,local pub(restaurant )is 10/15 mins walk, just make sure you have the bulk of your food/drink when you go in,there are no big supermarkets nearby(nearest is about 5 miles).Wouldn't hesitate to book with Lynn again.

I am a part-time tutor of English for international students at a university. I have many friends abroad, and my son's family live in Sweden. I live in Surrey in a small 18th century cottage. My interests are nature and the environment, history, house renovation, music, walking and gardening.

Why they chose this property

My parents bought this house in 1970 when my father's work (international educational bookseller) required him to move to the Midlands. My son spent all his school holidays there when he was growing up. After my mother died in 2008 I decided to renovate the property and retain some of the furniture, books and other items that had been used when my parents lived there.

What makes this property unique

This house has a calm and happy atmosphere and gets the sun in the kitchen in the morning and in the sitting room in the afternoon. When the weather is not so kind it is cosy and comfortable and there is a log fire too. There is also a proper dining room- the house is traditional and elegant but also spacious and unfussily furnished. The countryside is good for walks and bike rides and there are plenty of places to visit. Nottingham is about 40 minutes drive away.
