Shelburne is Home to Award-Winning Yachts and Shelburne Vacation Rentals

Like many Nova Scotia towns, Shelburne were founded on the shipbuilding industry. Shelburne cottages and all vacation rentals will allow guests to be near many town attractions, as well as other Nova Scotia villages worth seeing. A most interesting fact is that numerous trophy-winning yachts have been built in Shelburne. Though the town is mostly based around shipbuilding, it is also known for its tourism due to the beautiful views Shelburne beach rentals afford.

Shelburne Vacation Rentals near JC Williams Dory Shop Museum

Shelburne vacation rentals are mostly new houses, though a few Shelburne cottages may date as far back as the late 1700s and early 1800s. Surprisingly, in 1784, Shelburne became a haven for individuals fleeing the United States as a result of the Revolutionary War. However, the economy was not stable enough to offer these loyalists homes so they had to move on from Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. Today, visitors to Shelburne beach rentals can visit JC Williams Dory Shop Museum to see artifacts left behind by early settlers, including the loyalists.

Shelburne Cottages Close to the Muir Cox Shipbuilding Interpretive Center

Shelburne cottages are near Muir Cox Shipbuilding Interpretive Center, a place that offers education on the history and traditions of the oldest shipbuilding operation in Atlantic Canada. The shipyard was first used from 1820 to 1894, producing fishing boats, yachts, schooners, and barques. Demonstrations, photos, and artifacts are all on display. It will not take all day to see the center, so you might consider packing a picnic to enjoy afterward. Shelburne vacation rentals have fully equipped kitchens that make it easy to pack picnics so guests can save on their vacation budgets by eating in rather than dining out.

Finding Enlightenment at Museums Around Shelburne Beach Rentals

Ross Thomson House Museum is a short drive from almost any of the Shelburne beach rentals. The Museum is based in an 18th-century store which used to sell furniture. Today, the Museum not only has display items, but it also sells furniture and vintage merchandise from the 18th century. Shelburne is a village based on history, culture and tradition which is why they have several museums to tour.
