Nestled on 3 private oceanfront acres, the Cottage on Seawall Hill offers its visitors a rustic and romantic retreat by the seaside in the Canadian wilderness. The Cottage is a post and beam structure, newly built on the salvaged frame of a historic Nova Scotia church. At approximately 1000 square feet, the Cottage offers an open concept main floor, and two upstairs bedrooms, each with a queen size bed. There are panoramic water views from the main floor, and from the principal bedroom. The main floor includes a Great Room with a 27 foot cathedral ceiling and a natural stone wood-burning fireplace. A wood stove and baseboard electric heaters ensure the Cottage is cozy and warm year round. The kitchen is outfitted for cooks and includes stainless steel appliances and the modern conveniences of a dishwasher and microwave. A gas BBQ and a Weber charcoal grill are available as well.
A deck wrapping around the east and south sides of the Cottage provides the perfect spot for morning coffee, watching the tide come in, or an evening of star gazing.
The Cottage is located 1 kilometer from Seawall Beach, a beautiful sandy beach with stunning red cliffs and spectacular views of the headlands of Digby Neck. Fifteen minutes down the road in Sandy Cove, the Fundy Beach offers another option for a day of beach combing, and a magnificent spot for an evening picnic to watch the sun set over the Bay of Fundy. While some hearty souls brave the ocean waters at both beaches, there is also a freshwater lake a short drive from the Cottage for swimming.
The town of Digby and all its amenities, including the golf course, tennis courts, pool and spa at the Digby Pines, is a 15 minute drive from the Cottage. The Cottage is also centrally located to a number of other area attractions, including hiking and whale or bird watching on Brier Island, the Farmer's Market, restaurants, and historic sites in Annapolis Royal (30 minutes), the Evangeline trail and the Acadian history of the French Shore (30 minutes), and Kejimkujic National Park (45 minutes), where bike, canoe and kayak rentals are available for a day exploring one of Canada's beautiful national parks. The charming town of Bear River is a short 25 minute drive away, and offers another option for a day trip with its cafes, art gallery, and winery. The amusement park at Upper Clements Park is 30 minutes away.
The town of Yarmouth is an hour away, while the attractions on Nova Scotia's south shore (Lunenberg, Mahone Bay, Peggy's Cove) and in Halifax are a two to three hour drive from the Cottage.
