The Neighborhood

T. PETERSBURG, FL — It’s official: St. Petersburg is one of the top destinations for travelers in the United States, according to Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Destinations list for 2024.

St. Pete nabbed the No. 2. spot on the list of top 15 destinations.

“The sun almost always shines on St. Petersburg, the ‘Sunshine City’ that enjoys an average of 361 days of clear skies per year. Combine that with 244 miles of glimmering coastline along Tampa Bay, the Gulf of Mexico, Boca Ciega Bay and the intra coastal waterways and you have one hot beach destination,” Tripadvisor's listing for the city said. “Catch the sun, surf and sand at Fort De Soto Park, or take a hike, bike ride up the 37-mile Pinellas Trail. Enjoy a (Tampa Bay) Rays game during baseball season or escape to the shady oasis of the Sunken Gardens a few minutes walk.” The Palm Arbor Suite is situated in the fabulous and Historic Old Northeast. The ONE as some call it. It is but a few blocks and a few minutes walk to eateries, cafes, taverns, cinema, Sundial shopping center, Tampa bay beach, The piers Spa beach, waterfront parks, bayside municipal pool, the Vinoy and the eclectic vibe of downtown St. Pete.
Most residents are on a high living in the Old Northeast, loving the community and its close proximity to our thriving downtown.

This quiet residential neighborhood with historic homes is the opposite of the happening downtown scene, which might just be just one of its appeals. Those discovering this area, largely through word of mouth, say they love its sense of community while relishing the easy access to downtown. With its eclectic architecture, brick streets, picket fences and lush foliage, the neighborhood offers an odd blend of New England style and tropical sensibility. Despite its residential nature, it is just north of St. Petersburg’s downtown, making it convenient to the city’s booming cultural and entertainment scene. It also offers easy access for out-of-towners, since it is just 20 minutes from Tampa International Airport.

Downtown St. Petersburg: Arts, Culture & Entertainment

A hub for art and culture, downtown St. Pete is home to many notable fine art museums and galleries. The iconic Dali Museum displays artwork by the influential 20th-century surrealist Salvador Dali in a stunning building with a flowing geodesic dome known as the “Enigma.” Just down the street, the Chihuly Collection presented by Morean Arts Center features some of the most brilliant and intricate creations of famous glass artist Dale Chihuly. The collections in the Museum of Fine Arts showcase works by Monet, Gauguin, Renoir, O’Keeffe and many other beloved 18th- and 19th-century painters. Galleries lining the Central Avenue corridor include the Craftsman House Gallery, Crislip Arcade, ARTpool and the Morean Arts Center.

The Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Mahaffey Theater hosts major shows and entertainers. Built in 1925, the Palladium Theater is a performing arts venue that is intimate and majestic. The beaches of St. Petersburg and nearby Clearwater are consistently ranked among the best in the U.S. and even the world, but there's more to this destination than white sand, pristine waters, and 361 days of sunshine per year. St. Pete/Clearwater offers more than 30 museums and galleries featuring world-renowned artists like Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso, as well as the largest collection of Salvador Dalí's work outside of Spain. One could say brewing the perfect beer is also an artform that St. Pete/Clearwater has mastered, with its trail of 35+ locally owned craft breweries. Playfully nicknamed the "Gulp Coast," complete your experience with a digital passport that tracks your beer-sampling progress. These year-round offerings mean you can visit any time, but head over in June 2022 to revel in the 20th anniversary of St. Pete Pride, the largest Pride event in Florida, hosting events for everyone from friends and families to couples and solo travelers. —

What to Do:

There’s a lot to see in St. Petersburg and there’s no better time or place to experience some true local color than by visiting the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club. One of the oldest and largest of its kind in the world, every Friday. The Canopy lounge comes complete with private cabanas and fire pits and one of the best waterfront and city skyline views

Highly recommended
I stayed here in historic Kenwood for a month and it was great. The unit was nice and had it's own outdoor area, which was a big plus. The renter, Robert, was very nice, accommodating and communicative. It's also a great area and you have a number of cool places within walking distance. Five stars all around the board.

The Best staycation!
The Arbor Suite was the perfect, peaceful, stay. The studio was like a terrarium, with plants and foliage at every window. Great neighborhood with people walking dogs and riding bicycles. Easy walk to nearby stores and restaurants. The studio has many details and amenities available. Fully stocked kitchen and outdoor grill. Richard, the Host was so hospitable and gracious! He had the lights on for my late night check-in arrival. Will be staying again and recommending to all my family and friends. Also, I had a chance to see the one bedroom next door and it’s just as charming, just slightly larger.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this property due to its charm and close proximity to the beaches and downtown. The Old Northeast is a lovely area of older Bungalows and estates. Next to my architecturally sweet craftsman bungalow, sits my triplex building where the Palm Arbor Suite is housed. Both buildings either have porches, balconies or front patios which is in keeping to our neighborhood, where you can spend time reading, people watching or chatting with neighbors and friends. The buildings have been renovated extensively but they have kept their original charm I fell in love with.

What makes this property unique

Walking distance to downtown and all which St. Petersburg has to offer. A designer kitchen you won't find in any other rental at this price. An ideal location for everything the area has to offer. Having patios and off street parking is a pleasure for our guests.
