About this property

Artists Retreat - Overlooking Northwest Harbor

Overlooking Northwest Harbor on Deer Isle, this oceanfront estate has 4 bedrooms and 2 full/split bathrooms. The setting for this very private cottage is unparalleled, on more than five acres with over 300 feet of shoreline and expansive gardens. This charming home was built by Richard Myrick as his summer residence about 25 years ago and features beautiful hardwood floors throughout and spectacular views from every room. The first floor includes two bedrooms, each with two twin beds, there is also a split bathroom with shower. Along with a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area overlooking the water, there is a living room with fireplace, a writers den/ library and a screened sun porch. Upstairs is the master bedroom with king bed and fireplace and the owners former art studio with queen bed and large arched window offering expansive views of the water. The upstairs also includes a split bath with separate shower and bathtub. Outside there are generous decks and plenty of seating where the beautiful views can be enjoyed with your morning coffee or evening cocktails. The extensive garden includes a quiet gazebo and is fun to explore or take a walk along the shoreline and start a collection of unusual stones, sea glass and shells.
Charter a boat and explore Penobscot Bay or discover the local area, including Stonington, Blue Hill and Bar Harbor. Back at home, enjoy a lobster dinner on the deck while watching the sunset over Northwest Harbor, or treat yourselves to dinner at any one of the nearby fine dining options.

Secluded retreat
Thank you for an enjoyable stay. Nicely equipped with everything we could possibly need. Comfortable and homey with the charm of Maine. Sunsets are gorgeous by the fire pit in the evening!

The most incredible stay ever.
My family and I had the most amazing stay. The location, right on the water was paradise. The home was beautiful, stunningly decorated, and very comfortable. The home is a former artist's retreat and paintings were displayed throughout the house. We were able to rent kayaks from our hosts and being able to launch from the backyard was a highlight of our trip. This is the place to stay when in Deer Isle.

Beautiful Stay in an Artistic home
We have been coming to Deer Isle for 35 years now, so we are very familiar with the location and the available rental market. This property was beautiful, well-maintained, well-equipped, and very stylish. We loved the art, the view and the gorgeous gardens.

Wonderful family vacation spot!
Our 3 generation family loved this special place! The view of the water from the decks was amazing and the grounds were enchanting—flowers everywhere and numerous outdoor spaces for the kids and adults to wander through. It is a very quiet and peaceful spot. We loved swimming at high tide and also enjoyed kayaking each day right from the property. The house was very comfortable and well equipped, and what a treat to be surrounded by fine original art. It felt like a family home. The kids enjoyed discovering games tucked away in the den. We will definitely be back!
