About this property

Moulin de la Roque Noves - Les Cigales 5 Bedroom Villa

Please see additional reviews on the internet by searching, Moulin de la Roque, Noves.

As early as the 15th century, the Roux family was given the rights by the Pope to use the river for a flour mill, called la Roque. For over 350 years, the same owners ran this ancient flour mill and it grew to a grand status. Now called Le Moulin de la Roque (mill by the rock) Guy and Gaby have renovated these historic buildings once used to serve this flour mill into tasteful cottages and vacation villas. Authentic with original beams, stone walls, and crisp plastered wall,

Les Cigales was converted from an old barn where the grain was stored in the old mill. Guy has cleverly incorporated five large bedrooms, four baths, a spacious fully equipped kitchen with two refrigerators and a five burner gas stove. Les Cigales retains its old world charm with all the modern conveniences of modern living.

Located on the estate of LE MOULIN DE LA ROQUE - Noves you are surrounded by twelve acres of nature and beautifully maintained grounds. The estate is hidden, gated on both sides, parking is ample inside the estate. It is situated in the heart of Provence between Saint Remy and Avignon.

Completely secluded and calm, the Moulin is accessible by two private drives shaded by old hovering Plane trees on one side and a beautiful flowing stream on the other.

Walk into our quaint village of Noves (an authentically french provencal village, no tourists) where you can enjoy the local cafés, open-air market, or pick up your daily baguette at a charming boulangerie. Or, take one of the paths leading off the main garden and enjoy incredible vistas of the Les Alpilles on over 370 acres (150 hectares) of forest and hiking trails.

Baron Guy Fallon and Gabrielle, are your hosts and welcome you to stay on their estate, their home. You will, of course, be as independent as you wish however there is a great advantage to having the owners on site.

Nothing can ruin a vacation more than if you should have a problem in your house. With many private home rentals, you will have to contact an agency who in turn will contract for the work (and in Provence, you never know when this help will arrive as we are very relaxed here with an extraordinary amount of holidays and sacred long lunch hours.

Guy and Gaby have a full-time staff to take care of your problems immediately if they should occur. In addition, they are there to provide you support for translation, introduction into the French and provencal cultures, touring advice, restaurants, medical assistance as needed and any other thing you may need, even it if is just to borrow a cup of sugar.

It is their goal to assure as much as possible that your vacation and your experience with them and in Provence is a fantastic and memorable one.

Their charming house, Les Cigales, is the perfect lodging for couples, friends traveling together, two families or one large family. It offers a beautiful panoramic view of the estate from your private Wisteria covered terrace o as it is situated to the south and the gardens and the large lawn. There are five bedrooms, three bedrooms in a wing on the ground level with three baths, three toilets (2 separate and private from the baths) and for even more convenience, a hidden vanity sink in each bedroom as well as two separate entrances from the rear of the house. Upstairs, there are two additional large bedrooms with one toilet room apart and separate from the bath, one bath/shower and for more convenience, a hidden vanity sink in each bedroom.

Any bedroom in this house can be either two twin beds or one large king bed (1m80 by 2 meters). All mattresses are new and of the highest quality for a good night's sleep.

Les Cigales is more than a rental cottage as Gaby and Guy have put many touches to make it feel like home, with fresh provencal fabrics, everything you would need in a kitchen (blender, food processor, salad spinner, loads of dishes and glasses, pots and pans of every size, toaster, microwave, two refrigerators, five burner gas cooktop, convection oven and more and even more!

Les Cigales is one of our most popular houses on the estate due to its size, convenience, and charm as well as the spectacular views. We have guests who return every year without fail to stay here. If this is your dream, reserve early to get your choice of dates!

Do not be concerned about others on the estate. Unlike many other hamlet type accommodations that can be crowded and each unit very close and on top of one another, each farmhouse at Moulin de la Roque is spacious, independent private and neatly nestled into the ambiance of the old mill and grand estate. Every terrace and garden has been carefully thought out to provide the maximum privacy for our guests. The estate itself is very spacious and you will not feel the presence of others except as you pass each other perhaps on the lane to Noves or perhaps at the pool.

Another benefit to Les Cigales is that it can be combined with another house to become one large 8 bedrooms, 7 bath house with a large reception area in between for your meals together or just cocktails or extra storage space.

Please take a tour of the estate on our website on our VRBO page or just type in Moulin de la Roque, Noves on google. You will also find numerous reviews the link to which is on our website.

AN INSPIRING SETTING for your provencal vacation as couples, families, friends, painting workshops, or any other type of group, the Moulin de la Roque can accommodate almost any requirement.

Available are large salons for groups, a large secluded swimming pool with surrounding terrace, covered cabana and pool house with shower and toilet facilities, a petanque court (Provencal ball game), two trampolines, and other recreational facilities for children as well as adults.

An expansive lawn allows for beautiful views and lots of space to run or play for the children.

Magical
Moulin de la Roque is jaw-dropping--you think the online photos must be lucky shots, and then the real thing is better. We were 10 people (two teens) staying two weeks (very hot weeks) and we just loved everything that happened. The pool and the air conditioning overcame the heat, and all the facilities were excellent. We will come again.

Gorgeous, central, warm hospitality
A gorgeous, well kept, absolutely French property that is large enough, and has enough going on, to stay put for a few days. But when you DO want to venture out, everything is close by. We had a big group for a special birthday and spent quite a bit of our time on the property because it was just too nice to leave. Anything Gaby and Guy recommended was perfect. The best restaurants, markets, activities, and how to make the most of a particular day, were all covered by their generous and thoughtful recommendations. The kitchens were well stocked. Even the knives were good, and all the appliances you might need were available. Did I mention how gorgeous the property and buildings are, inside and out? A great place to book. We will be back.

Wonderful, in every good sense
It was dream-like. Such a beautiful setting and warm, comfortable home (with modern, high-end conveniences). The hosts, Gaby and Guy, were welcoming and always helpful, especially when Gaby drove with me to the nearby town where my credit card had been overcharged. The old mill itself has been preserved, and Guy was a tireless guide of its intricate workings. Meanwhile, that area of Provence is rich with town markets and hidden, fabulous restaurants.

Wonderful Stay at Moulin de la Roque
Two couples enjoyed the very spacious Le Cigales villa at Moulin de la Roque in early October. It was a lovely time to visit with no crowds anywhere we went and cool refreshing weather. The estate is so lovely that one hates to leave but we did manage day outings each day and looked forward to returning in the late afternoon to our special provencal home. The villa is incredibly comfortable and beautifully decorated and supplied with everything a visitor might need. Guy and Gaby have compiled excellent notebooks full of ideas for outings, meals, shopping, etc. We particularly enjoyed our daily walk into the charming village of Noves to stock up on croissants and baguettes as well as fruit and vegetables. Market day at Chateaurenard and Eygalieres were also favorite memories and provided for delicious dinners in our villa. We are already planning a return visit!

Perfect Retreat
We stayed in the Cigales villa which is a spacious home that in addition to 4+ bedrooms, offers a very spacious kitchen, dining room and living room areas with beautiful furnishings. The location also has a great outdoor patio with covered barbeque and overhead trellis of Wisteria. We cooked at home multiple evenings and enjoyed having such a beautiful and peaceful place to return to each day after site-seeing. The location of these accommodations is very convenient to the other sites in Provence. Also, our hosts were very welcoming and helpful and we enjoyed playing with a resident young boxer puppy (Gucci) who made the accommodations seem even more like home,

About the host

Host profile image
We are Guy and Gaby, your hosts at Moulin de la Roque in Noves Provence France.

Guy came from Belgium over 25 years ago searching for an estate in France where he could relax, engage in some agriculture and enjoy the Provencal lifestyle and mild weather. He found such a place in the Moulin de la Roque. A historic old flour mill (dating back as far a the 1500s), located in the countryside, near a small village but not far from Saint Remy and Avignon. It was nestled up to a mountain and rock cliff and surrounded by a lovely river. There were fields of orchards and a small vineyard. The only problem was that most of it was in ruins. Being an engineer by education, Guy had no hesitation to begin a renovation of the property which continues even today.

A historic old flour mill (dating back as far a the 1500s), located in the countryside, near a small village but not far from Saint Remy and Avignon. It was nestled up to a mountain and rock cliff and surrounded by a lovely river. There were fields of orchards and a small vineyard and a grand chateau.

The only problem was that most of it was in ruins. He had no idea what he would do with it, however, being an engineer by education and an architect at heart, he had no hesitation to begin a renovation of the property which continues even today.

Guy met Gabrielle (Gaby), an American, 15 years ago when she came as a guest to the Moulin with some artists to paint. Air France had lost her luggage for over 10 days. At that time she spoke little French so he, of course, helped her to retrieve it. Thanks to Air France, she has never left! Some say she is still there waiting for her luggage to arrive.

Guy and Gaby are passionate about their mill and their Provence and love sharing both with their guests.

Why they chose this property

They have created 8 villas or a little 'Provencal village. Each year they continue to restore and create this little village paradise for their guests. People from around the world visit the Moulin each year and are surprised by its beauty, quality, and attention to detail. Some of their best compliments are 'it's so beautiful, even better than the internet site!'
We enjoy being your hosts and treat you as if you are a guest in our home. We are there to provide you with advice on the area, reservations for restaurants, help if you are sick or lost or any other support you may need. You arrive as guests and you leave as friends. The little piece of paradise was created with you in mind. We are passionate about our estate, Provence and about you, our guests.

Gaby loves the cuisine, the ambiance, and charming villages, the markets of Provence and people, especially our guests! I am an avid hiker and adventurer and together we would love to advise you to make the most out of your stay in Provence.

What makes this property unique

Staying in Les Cigales at the Moulin de la Roque offers a unique mixture of stunning beauty, provencal history, community, new acquaintances, seclusion, and privacy.

As it is also the home of the owners who live full time on the estate, Guy and Gaby, your English speaking hosts and their staff, will provide you with whatever you need. You will have privacy and support at the same time, a great combination of the successful vacation. It takes “self-catering” to another level!

The chateau-like atmosphere of the estate provides a wonderful ambiance to either stay on the estate or to come home to every night after touring the area.
The spacious grounds and structure of the estate are magnificent. The large swimming pool is secluded and secure for children. And in addition, there is a large park for children with plenty of games, including two trampolines.

The small neighboring village of Noves, is within a short walking distance from the estate. It is quaint and still holds onto the traditional Provencal way of life.

Charming and historic, it is relatively unknown so free of tourists and souvenir shops. It has all the provisions you will need for your stay and friendly people who adore the occasional visitor from abroad.

Centrally located in the heart of Provence, the estate is close to just about any major site, most within 20-30 minutes. (Such as Avignon, Chateauneuf du Pape, Pont du Gard, the Luberon (Gordes, Bonnieux, etc.) Arles and the Camargue, and the Les Alpilles (Saint Remy and Les Baux).

For groups, the estate is ideal as each family or group, can take a house, all just around the corner, maintaining their privacy as a family or group, yet easily coming together in the large dining areas or terraces of each other’s homes for meals. And there is a lodging for every budget.

Just adjacent, there is a large forest, and mountain where you can take hikes each day in the midst of wild rosemary and thyme and enjoy the views.
