Soon the howler monkeys add their voices. Beach comb on the secluded cobalt sand beach, swim in a pool or ocean and relax with a good book. Enjoy sunset while sipping a glass of wine on the lanai.

Feeling more adventurous...scuba dive, surf, sport fish, horseback ride, visit a volcano, zip-line or walk through a rainforest, bird watch, golf, take a drive and enjoy the culture of the friendly Costa Rica people. The small towns of Marbella and San Juanillo are only a short distance away. In each there are restaurants and mini-markets.Snorkel in the protected harbor of San Juanillo or cove of Playa Pitahaya. Surf at Marbella. Ostional Turtle Refuge is located about 15 km south. Olive Ridey turtles lays their eggs on shore monthly. Zip-lines tours are available in both near-by Nosara and Paraiso.River cruises for viewing wildlife are also available near-by. If you want more excitement, the tourist town of Tamarindo is less than an hour away. Pura Vida!

Guanacaste golf courses: Several golf courses are located near-by. The closest is Hacienda Pinilla, which is about a 40 minute drive. Next is Reserva Conchal and the last is the 4 Seasons located in Papagayo. Tee times can be booked at reception.

All three courses are world-class golf courses.

Playa Azul is located in the province of Guanacaste between the surfing village of Marbella and the fishing village of San Juanillo. The Sanctuary is the only resort located on Playa Azul. Both Marbella and San Juanillo are just a short drive away. In each there are restaurants and convenience stores. Playa Junquillal is a 30 minute drive to the north. Nosara is a 30 minute drive to the south. The closest international airport is in Liberia.
