Hawaiian Paradise Park in Kea'au is ideally located to take advantage of benefits of Hilo, 19 miles away, the ocean only one mile away, and Volcano National Park, 20 miles away.
After staying in many vacation rentals, we decide not to buy right on the ocean since the foot traffic from hikers and people fishing limits your privacy and security. Also when the surf is up, it is hard to get a good night sleep.
So we bought one mile from the ocean, at a road the ends at a Hawaiian State Park so we get no foot traffic and we can hear the sound of the waves when the surf is up. We also have come to know and love all our neighbors which makes for a nice little community.

Golf: Golf - while the Kona side has some of Hawaii's finest golf resorts - Mani Lani, Waikoloa, Mauna Kea - there are many other to enjoy. There are 20 golf courses on the island.
